 Peace Building Workshop

Over the last few years GPP through its Personnel Exchange Programme has received an increasing number of requests for the training of personnel working in conflict situations, be they situations at national, community or personnel level, in order to address the impact of conflict in an improved way.  This has ranged from training for those undertaking work in the field of domestic violence to those working in crisis ministries and counselling programmes, community conflict resolution or national peace-building in a post-conflict situation.

In many areas the Church has played a major role in providing such ministry to their communities despite its lack of formal skills and expertise. Some of our church workers work as volunteers, some are paid but most are seeking further training in this field to equip themselves effectively for the work they undertake.

As a result GPP has partnered with the Pacific Centre for PeaceBuilding here in Suva to offer a three week training course to strengthen skills in peace-building and conflict transformation and so develop the capacity of our churches working in these critical areas.
It was held on 2nd August – 20th August 2010.
